Breast Lift with Implants (Augmentation Mastopexy)
Over the years, factors such as pregnancy, nursing, and the force of gravity take their toll on a woman’s breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts often lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag.
Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to raise and reshape sagging breasts. Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. If your breasts are small or have lost volume, breast implants inserted in conjunction with mastopexy can increase both their firmness and their size.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia in a fully accredited ambulatory surgery facility.
The length of recovery depends mainly on the position of the implant. When the implants are placed under the muscle, there will be more pain, which will be controlled by medication and exercises. Even in this case, most patients are able to return to sedentary work within four or five days. If the implants are inserted above the muscle, the recovery is faster.
