Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

With age, and especially following weight loss, the arm skin may become loose and flabby. Brachioplasty (also know as arm lift) is a surgical procedure designed to tighten the skin of the arms by removing excess tissue (skin and fat). It is often necessary to extend the skin removal to the lateral chest wall in order to improve the “bat wing deformity”.

A brachioplasty will improve the appearance of the upper arm. The procedure requires a scar that can extend from the armpit to the elbow. In case of an extended brachioplasty, which is fairly common after massive weight loss, the scar will be carried on to the lateral chest wall and sometimes down to the fold under the breast. These scars usually heal well and they are hidden on the inner side of the arm and on the outer side of the chest wall. A scar revision, however, is sometimes necessary if the scars tend to become wide.

If you feel that poor contour of your arms is making you self-conscious and that the appearance of your upper limb is preventing you from wearing sleeveless tops, ask Plastic Surgeon Dr. Boemi in Naples, Florida if this procedure can improve your self-esteem and your quality of life.

The important decision of considering Plastic Surgery begins with a personal consultation. Please call to set up an hour long meeting with Dr. Boemi that covers your goals, any questions you have concerning surgery, and imaging.
